Bali Street Food and Night Markets: Driver Tour Guide

6 min read2026-02-18

Bali night markets (pasar malam) are where locals eat, and the food is some of the best and cheapest on the island. A night tour with a private driver lets you visit the best markets safely and comfortably.

Gianyar Night Market is the most famous and largest. Open every evening from 5 PM, it features dozens of stalls selling babi guling (suckling pig), sate lilit (minced seafood satay), nasi campur (mixed rice plate), and countless desserts. Everything costs Rp 10.000-30.000.

Pasar Sindhu Night Market in Sanur is the most tourist-friendly, with cleaner stalls and English menus at some vendors. It is smaller than Gianyar but closer to the southern tourist areas. Try the martabak (stuffed pancake) and grilled corn.

Denpasar Night Market (Pasar Badung) is the most authentic and chaotic. This massive market sells everything from spices to live chickens, but the food stalls on the upper floor serve incredible local dishes. Your driver can help you navigate and order.

What to eat at Bali night markets: nasi campur (the essential Balinese mixed rice), sate (grilled meat skewers with peanut sauce), bakso (meatball soup), gado-gado (vegetable salad with peanut dressing), es campur (mixed ice dessert), and pisang goreng (fried banana).

Your private driver knows which stalls are the best and freshest. They often have their own favorite vendors. Trust their recommendations for the most authentic experience. A full dinner at any night market rarely costs more than Rp 50.000 per person.
