The sunrise trek up Mount Batur is one of Bali most popular adventure activities. Standing at 1,717 meters above sea level as the sun rises over Mount Agung and Lake Batur is truly unforgettable. Getting there requires a very early start, and a private driver is essential.
Your driver picks you up at 2:00-2:30 AM to arrive at the trailhead by 3:30-4:00 AM. The drive from south Bali takes 1.5-2 hours in the dark, through winding mountain roads that are challenging even during the day.
The trek itself takes about 2 hours up and 1.5 hours down. It is moderately challenging, suitable for reasonably fit adults and older children. No climbing equipment is needed, just hiking shoes and warm clothing for the summit.
