Canggu has become one of the most popular bases for travelers in Bali, and for good reason. Its central west coast location makes it an ideal starting point for day trips across the entire island. The most popular day trip from Canggu is the Ubud circuit. Starting early at 8 AM, your driver takes you through Mengwi to reach Tegallalang Rice Terraces before the crowds arrive. After walking the terraces and trying the famous swings, continue to the Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary, then to Tirta Empul Temple for the sacred spring water experience. North Bali is a longer day trip at 12 hours but absolutely worth it. The route takes you through Bedugul with stops at the famous Handara Gate, the Ulun Danu Beratan Temple floating on the lake, Twin Lakes viewpoint, Gitgit Waterfall, and optionally Lovina Beach. The drive through the mountain roads offers stunning scenery.
Other excellent day trips from Canggu include: Tanah Lot sunset temple visit (just 30 minutes away), East Bali to see the Gates of Heaven at Lempuyang Temple, a waterfall circuit visiting Tegenungan, Tibumana, and Kanto Lampo, and a beach hopping tour along the south coast. Each of these trips is comfortably done with a private driver and costs between Rp 400.000 and Rp 750.000.
